Our company in Honduras was founded on October 28, 1958. Initiating operations originally under the corporate name of Hannover Fire Insurance Company, by means of agreements Numbers 1197 and 1073 issued by the Secretary of State in the Offices of Economy and Finance on October 28, 1958 and September 26, 1964 respectively, in the second agreement the change of corporate name to The Hannover Insurance Company was authorized.

On December 15, 1967 the corporate name was changed to American International Underwriters (Honduras), S.A. On December 23, 1993 it was changed to American Home Assurance Company under agreement number A.L.1780/93. On December 6, 2012, it became Chartis Seguros Guatemala, S.A., Sucursal Honduras. On October 24, 2013, it changed its name to AIG Seguros Guatemala, S.A., Sucursal Honduras.

In 2015, ASSA Compañía Tenedora, S.A., holding company of ASSA Compañía de Seguros, S.A. (ASSA), a company engaged in the General, Surety, Life and Health insurance business in the Republic of Panama, agreed to acquire 100% of AIG’s insurance operations in Central America. This transaction was completed on January 19, 2017.

After obtaining the required regulatory approvals, on July 3, 2017, the company began operations under the ASSA brand and thus under the name ASSA Compañía de Seguros S.A., Sucursal Honduras.

ASSA has been present in the Honduran insurance market for more than 64 years, enjoying worldwide experience in insurance.

Currently and after a corporate restructuring process and according to Resolution No. 363-7/2019 approved on July 31, 2019, by the Central Bank of Honduras, ASSA Compañía de Seguros Honduras, S.A. is now ASSA.
